Bex's Campari Soda

Campari Soda with a little bit of extra love.

Bex's Campari Soda

Ah, Campari.

I really love this bitter orange liqueur with it's bold redness in color. I know it's one that's not for everyone, and sometimes when people drink it on it's own, their faces curl up with the bitterness. If you don't know what it is before trying it, the common thought is that it'll be sweet. Ha. No. Often people mix it up with Aperol (it's delightful sister, is what I call her. And I guess I've decided that Aperol is a lady as well...).

It's better known in cocktails like the Negroni and the Americano. (Which are fabulous and you should try them if you have not). But Campari has a beautiful history. It has a lot of character just on its own. And has a story to tell. So that's how I generally like it. Maybe on the rocks with a couple of orange bitters, or keep it as a classic Campari Soda. But for those who need a little bit of something else, but still want to keep it light and refreshing (especially since it's getting warmer outside) I thought I'd put a slight spin on it.  So here's to you. Happy drinking.

Let's concoct:

  • 2 oz Campari
  • 0.5 oz Orange Curacao
  • 2 Dashes of Bittermens' Elemakule Tiki Bitters
  • Club Soda
* Build in a highball or Collin's glass. Slightly stir. Top with club soda and garnish with orange zest and peel, twisted to your liking.
