Mountain Heat.
Mountain Heat.
I don't usually brag, but, I'm a pretty good procrastinator when it comes to packing for trips. I mean, I do spend a decent amount of time thinking about what I'll bring or how I probably need to do laundry firstβbut in the end, it's a lot of 'all talk, no action'. So. As I'm chillin' at my home bar, eyeing my empty suitcase that anxiously awaits me, it only makes sense to make a cocktail to get me in the mood for the trip ahead and accompany me during my task....that I'll get to eventually...
If you're curious as to where I am heading, I'm going to good ol' Park City, Utah for my good friends' wedding. Not really sure why I said "good ol'", because...I've never been there. But it just felt right to say, I guess.... moving on....To get in the mindset of being in the mountains and outdoorsiness in general, I wanted to make a drink that had some earth to it. And so here we are. 'Mountain Heat' is a cocktail of bourbon, pine, lemon and fire. An awesome afternoon libation with a bold earthly and citrus bite to it, and some heat at the end to give it that extra punch.
Let's concoct:
2 oz Napa Valley Distillery's 2007 Bourbon Mash Whiskey
1 oz Dram Pine Syrup
0.25 oz Lemon
2 Dashes Scrappy's Firewater Tincture
*Add all ingredients into a mixing glass and shake vigorously with ice. Strain over a large fresh ice cube and garnish with a lemon peel.
