Lavender Lift.
Lavender Lift.
I want you and I to be friends.
I'm aware that this is something that I've been pushing for...for quite some time now. I'm also aware that some things just aren't meant to be. But! I am most aware of the fact that I'm writing a blog, and our friendship will always be in question and (to state more of the obvious) a mystery.
Anyway, a lot of things come with friendship. Honesty, understanding...tolerance if one is intoxicated, encouragement or discouragement if one is intoxicated. You know. That stuff. I mean, let's be frank and honest here, this is a drinking blog. I feel like weβre on at least some of those friendship levels with that one, am I right? Yes? Get out of my life you loser? Hm. I feel there are already some similarities between this post and my last...moving merrily along...
My actual point is, after a rumble and a ramble, I don't see the need for us to keep secrets from each other. Let what's on our mind be said. Summer is lovely. Yes. With all the sunshine and crazy fun activities--lovely. But...that sunshine can also be unforgiving to us and a brutal reminder of how we didn't stay true to our New Year's resolution involving eating healthier and workout out more... π³ So let's keep the cocktails on the light side, ya? Something we can enjoy that won't give us that "I just drank Coors all day on the beach" kind of belly. (No, I'm not saying that because of personal experience...) And yes, something that we don't feel too guilty about consuming.
So here's "Lavender Lift" a light concoction of gin, lavender, and lime. A fluffy and bubbly delight. Delicious and refreshing. Hope this gives you a boost of energy and maybe some self-esteem. Uplift your day. Yeah, take that sunshine.
Β
Let's concoct:
- 2 oz Gin
- 0.5 Lavender Syrup
- 0.5 Lime
- Egg Whites
- Club Soda
*Muddle lime (or add in if pre-juiced), add gin, lavender syrup and egg whites. Dry shake for 30 seconds. Add ice and then shake thoroughly. Fine strain into a tall Collin's glass. Top with club soda and pour from a higher height to get the lift effect.
Lavender Syrup Recipe:
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons of fresh or dried lavender flowers
- 2 cups sugar (1 brown/1 regular)
- 1 cup white sugar
*Bring the water and lavender to a boil, then stir in sugar until it fully dissolves. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Then remove heat and allow it to cool for about 30 mins - an hour. Strain out lavender and store in the refrigerator.
Cheers,
Bartender Bex
