Lavender Lift.
Lavender is delightful, isn’t it? It has this prettiness to it that feels so kind and honest. Really, it just wants the best for you. Maybe that’s why I’ve come to mix with lavender so much over the past couple of years. It just gives me compliments and tells me my hair looks nice and I’m just like, well, all right, we can keep this relationship going. But actually, it can surprise you when it joins forces with alcohol. It can be loud, tricky, gentle, uplifting, and/or confusing. The use of this somewhat minty flower can take you on an unexpected journey.
With this cocktail, I used lavender more subtly and it’s primarily reflected as the end note. With the mix of the boldness of the whiskey, creaminess of the orgeat, and the slight citrus of the lemon–the lavender brings this earthy, crisp and gentle conclusion. Lavender and lemon is one of my favorite combinations. Usually I’m pair those two with gin (which would be a tasty take on this recipe) but I really liked the whiskey depth for this version. This is a really simple mix that looks lovely and tastes lovely. Though created to be served up - you can easily adapt this to a larger format and serve it on the rocks for a bigger group. Also! Another riff on this cocktail would be, instead of having it served up - you could put it in a highball glass and top it off with some DRY’s Sparkling Lavender Soda. It’ll definitely have a lighter feel too it, great for when the sun out and games are afoot!
