Penicillin


 

PENICILLIN
2 oz Blended Scotch Whiskey
0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
0.75 oz Honey Ginger Syrup
0.25 oz Islay Single-Malt Scotch Whiskey

Combine all ingredients (excluding Islay Single Malt Scotch Whiskey) into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously to chill. Strain into a rocks glass over a large fresh ice cube. Top with the Islay Single-Malt Scotch and garnish with candied ginger.

I feel like the #1 question you get asked when you tell people you like making drinks is: “What’s your favorite cocktail?”

And though my general response has often been (with a slightly snobby, not-so-hidden-eye-roll, and shrug), “I don’t know. I don’t have a favorite, it really depends on my mood and the season.” 😂 Followed up with a, “But I’m really into ____ right now.” I have to admit, my fill in that blank has been the same cocktail for quite some time now. This may be the longest a drink has been my “current favorite” weapon of choice. Which, of course is: a Penicillin.

There’s something about a Penicillin that just hits the spot for me. The scotch. The honey. The ginger. The lemon. The 🤌🏻 of it all.

I feel like I really got into this cocktail about 10 years ago–but in my most recent years we’ve come back together. Been spending some quality time and established a deep connection. And now, have started to enter a serious relationship. ❤️
